About Unzer

Unzer offers payment systems that can handle the major international payment processes. This includes credit cards, wallets, bank transfers, invoices, and hire purchase. The accepted credit cards include a Chinese and Japanese credit card. In addition to PayPal and Apple Pay, the wallets also include AliPay and WeChat Pay. Most of these payment methods can be implemented online using plug-ins for all common shop systems. Users can also deploy Unzer to make payments without a shop. One option is to embed a payment link in a payment form, or in an email. The payment process can then be actioned with a click. In-app purchases, for example in games, are also possible via Unzer.

It's a decently priced payment processor for handling high transaction volumes

I used to be a big proponent of mPAY24, the predecessor of heidelpay which then rebranded to Unzer. Ever since the rebranding though I am quite disappointed with Unzer's offering.

Pros

If you're hosting a webshop with tons of transactions each month, the variable fees of Unzer are quite low compared to other alternatives on the market. So if saving money with transactions is your primary concern, Unzer might be a good choice for you.

Cons

The onboarding process is a pain. It's very long, with tons of fields to fill out and extremely rigid. I understand Unzer is a financial institution, but there are other vendors on the market that handle this a lot faster! Also the monthly fees made it unattractive for us if we are dealing with online shops that don't have a fast amount of transactions.
