If you need to communicate an idea with other fellows musician who is not trained in music reading, its a powerful tool, since it has this tab only option, so the musician you are sending the music does not have to focus on anything else than the rhythm and fret positions of the notes you are suggesting.

If you happen to be a music teacher, this program is EXCELLENT for helping your students to train their tempo, help them play with an accompaniment and get used to the metronome and a regular tempo

Pros

Using the tab/instrument view is really useful to notate the tones of your guitar into a tab/sheet music, and the compatibility with many other strings instruments(Ukulele, Bass, banjo) make it easier to transport your ideas to other players, even if they are really far from you.
The printing options are awesome too, if you can't afford a printer, you just export your tab/sheet score into pdf format and then can send it to any place so they can print your parts or chord charts.
Also, the playback/loop option is EXTREMELY helpful whenever you encounter a hard to learn, it allows you to go from really slow to the exact tempo you are looking for, so, for practicing your instrument is a really awesome tool.

Cons

There are a few things that can be improved, for example, if you happen to be a producer or an orchestra/band composer, guitar pro will limit you the way you write your music, it does not have a natural flow when it comes to transport instruments(say, many of the brass and woodwind family) so, it might get confusing whenever you have to write something for a trumpet or alto sax player.
Also, the playback or RSE (real sound engine, which is basically an emulation of a live instrument) is not that good enough, compared to other software that is around nowadays, most of the time I prefer to use the midi default playback, because it can get too noisy and unproportioned.

Helped my church to save a lot of money. Great customer service that provided the best solution for our needs. In my personal use, there's A LOT of music written in guitar pro files on the internet that you can get for free, probably written from the original music books that now are almost impossible to be found (and complex stuff, like Dream Theater, just to give an example). They have also launched a service where you can buy popular songs and learn how to play them.

Pros

About the software functionality: It was and has become even more user friendly to write, edit and play music scores. Not only that: it includes a Chords library that you can use in every single instrument (mainly focused on guitar, adding at the beginning of the score all the chords used). You can make it as simple as you want: tablature, chart or pentagram...or why not, all of them! It includes a great library of RSE instruments that will help you imagine what your music sounds like. Export your score as midi and use it on your recording software on VST instruments. And it's absolutely affordable!
About the customer service: Few years after I started using it at home I started to write music for my church which doesn't have a lot of money to spend on very specific software like this. However, we needed more than one license so we contacted them. Their interest truly was to help us and yeah, completely helped us to get exactly what we needed. Best people on Earth!

Cons

It might rarely crash but it has been improved a lot with the years and updates. Just keep saving all the time as you should with any software you use and you'll be fine. Also the RSE sounds for winds are not good, they're just to give an idea. The interpretation of dynamics is weird mostly when changes are extreme but again, it's not designed to sound like a VST.

Great piece of software, albeit a bit clunky

I've always chose Guitar Pro for my guitar tablature needs.

I've always chose Guitar Pro for my guitar tablature needs.

Pros

Built-in MIDI
Fast, lightweight.

Guitar Pro makes notation a breeze. Musical notation will always seem like a daunting tast, but GP makes it simple. The interface is pretty intuitive when it comes to this specifically.

Cons

I don't remember what version number it was, but I'm not the biggest fan of the overall user interface. While the main portion of the program (musical notation) is straightforward, the rest of the program became very convoluted.

Great Way to Simulate Your Music

I have used this software since 2009 and I have been happy with the improvements and the commitment they have made to creating a sound engine that sounds authentic.

Pros

I am able to create scores of music using either tab format or standard music format and then I am able to simulate the sounds of the band or orchestra through the software. There is no limit to the amount of tracks one can use, whether it is guitar, violin, drums, and even a didgeridoo. You can save your different scores and files within a cloud that is accessible on a phone app to take your music on the go. The Sound Engine has been improving over the years and I believe is almost at its peak.

Cons

I wish there was a way to change effects on a single track like a phaser or delay at a certain point in the songs instead of having to create a separate guitar track with that effect attached to it, it kind of makes the process somewhat tedious. It is very minor in the grand scheme of things, but still.

Guitar pro tab king

Reviewed on 2022/10/10

I love this tool and i used it since more than 10 years and im still using it.

I love this tool and i used it since more than 10 years and im still using it.

Pros

What i really like about Guitar pro is the simplicity of using it the design of the interface and what is really amazing if you are for example a musician and you don't have any idea about notes etc you can literally use your ear to write your tabs cause any number in your keyboard can turn into note that you can hear at the same time you write it then you can export that to share it with your band or export the midi file and drag it to your daw change instruments ..etc really awesome.

Cons

What i like the least about it it s the sound of instruments in it that can maybe be a motivation for the dev team is that why not sampling real sound of instruments in the app ? that would be really amazing.
