About CORE ELMS

CORE ELMS is a cloud-based learning experience platform that helps maintain student databases, verify faculties’ licenses, track official documents, and more on a centralized platform. The application allows staff members to submit incident reports regarding needle sticks, HIPAA violations, medication errors, injuries, and background check discrepancies, enabling them to ensure compliance across processes.

Key features of CORE ELMS include assessment management, scheduling, student portal, activity dashboard, and more. The application comes with an absence tracking functionality, which helps faculties monitor and submit student absence records and time sheets to the administration for further review. Managers can also send mass communication to students in the form of emails, attachments, surveys feedback lists, and more.

CORE ELMS integrates with several third-party learning management and single sign on (SSO) applications. There are several tools that allow students to download and capture assessments, journals, SOAP notes, and more from their field experiences.

Overall a great software solution for our needs

Pros

Overall it is easy to use and maintain. We find the SmartMatch scheduling to be very helpful and intuitive in getting us good schedules in a very short time frame.

Cons

One of the things we struggle the most with is types of user accounts and when a preceptor changes employers being able to disconnect the preceptor from the previous employer and connect them to a new employer without needing to create a whole new user account for them.
We also wish there was more connectivity across all platforms for student use. Each element (ELMS, CompMS, Readiness, etc.) seems to be disjointed from each other.

Pros

Integration and setup were excellent. We were converted over and trained on a schedule that worked well with our staff.

Cons

The match process for scheduling has many levels of settings but there is not a set of instructions or checklists for the user to reference when they are setting up matches.

I learned how to use CORE Elms a little more than 2 years ago, totally remotely during COVID. Our CORE Elms representative met with me virtually to show me what I needed to know and this worked very well. It was an easy program to learn in a virtual environment, and our representative was patient to answer all my questions and very knowledgeable about the product and how to use it.

Pros

Whenever we have a question or need help with something, the CORE Elms representatives are quick to answer and always so very helpful.

Cons

The 'save' icon is called "Enter Information" in some areas and "Submit Information" in other areas, which can be confusing for new users, instead of just being called "Save". But once you get used to it you just look for the button and it doesn't really matter exactly what it says.
