UUKI is a great Web 3.0 Community Option

Reviewed on 2023/06/13

Pros

UUKI is a mature and upcoming web 3.0 platform that has a rapid development cycle and lots of potential.

Cons

There are still some features and that need to be added. There are still bugs that need to be squashed.

Simple and Fast Community Platform, good alternative of the overused Discord

To conclude , it is a very promising app. I really enjoy creating a community with it and hope to grow together.

Pros

Purpose built comunity platform for Web3. I am not sure if this is their original intention, or maybe the founders pivot to Web3 when they noticed most of their clients are coming from Web3 space. There is community chat, Cname to own domain, metamask integration and you have access to API and webhooks. That's why it quickly become the tool that we will be migrating our communities and our client's communities to.

Cons

Relatively new. There are some functions that need to be addressed. For example ,functions to easily delete the wrong image in post selection and an easier way to accept new user requests. UI is great, but I hope to see more beautiful designs. Also, No native video upload yet.

Reasons for Choosing uuki

Beam.gg has too many bugs for my liking at this moment. e.g. Something I suggested changing is the 'hard to read' emoji of 'like', 'dislike'. Instead of using a smiley face, they used a full-figure (head to toe) cartoon with a microscopic smiley face that you'll need to squint hard orzoom-in 200% to discern whether its a smile or frown. And they still have not take any action after months of the issue being raised.

Sold as a Lifetime Deal with white-label features. Now they have announced that for full white-label you have to pay a monthly or annual fee. Despite uproar in the community, they haven't changed this policy and they have lost a lot of customers (they've reopened their refund window). They don't care. They have abused early adopters to get ideas from them during their alpha stage (beta would be too kind, it's just about beta now), and are basically forcing them out (or forcing them to pay for what they've already paid for). Shocking company. Totally untrustworthy. NOT a viable alternative to Tribe or Circle etc, despite the fact they keep comparing themselves to Circle.

Pros

Promising alternative to Facebook groups, Tribe, Circle etc.

Cons

Name, design, features, customer support.

The platform is ready to be used in production, but since the dev team works so quickly I've opted to wait before launching a couple of community's I've already setup. But along the way I've provided my feedback and seen first hand how the owners tae this seriously and work on improving and providing new features.

Pros

Setting up the community is super easy and straightforward. If you go through the setting one by one yo an easily have a community ready for prime time in less than half an hour. I think this is what reeled me in, I had tried other community platforms but they were very complex, written in stone, and felt like a lot of maintenance/managing had to go to it. Uuki has a very simple structure and you an set moderation very easily to build and control de community with the help of the community itself, which feels like a glorious circle as it creates more ownership.

Reading the other reviews I imagine that this is so easy that it feels that maybe something is missing, nut probably other users expect something more complex (specially coming from other platforms)

Cons

UX/UI wise, Uuki still is lacking behind, but I'm sure it is something that will be managed once all the functionality is there, which makes sense to re-work less things.

Besides that, it would be great if they allow translating the string to change the language style to meet the community's style (like Ay mate! for Pirate of the Caribbean fan's community), also I would appreciate a better roadmap (instead of a trello board)

Reasons for Switching to uuki

Even though Tribe is a great platform, the pricing just works against it.

The price was great for the benefits of having a private community. I really wish they had a mobile app where we could get push notifications though. It would be so much more convenient for the clubs / communities that are always on the go.

Pros

The community was up and running in a matter of minutes. It was very easy to figure out. The private community settings is the best thing for a high school club / organization. No distractions from social media posts or ads.

Cons

Sometimes it gets a little glitchy and the events function doesn't work well. It worries me that the rest of the community sections will get that way as well. The name is a bit strange but the kids had a great laugh about it.

Reasons for Switching to uuki

Tribe's interface was just so ..... ugly. When I first tested out their product it was so clunky and I just didn't like using at all. Beam's customer service was atrocious. It took over 2 weeks for them to assist with a domain connection problem --- and even then they still couldn't fix it. Beam also doesn't allow my members to change their email for log in. This is a huge problem (and unheard of in other social media platforms).
