Using BusinessOptix for process mapping and improvement with consultancy customers.

We have used BusinessOptix as a tool to support our consultancy work. It has been a productivity tool as we have been able to produce process maps and associated reports more efficiently than with other tools (such as PowerPoint or Visio). It allows data capture and the production of reports which can be provided to customers.
Pros
For us our main use has been to process map key customer processes and to include these in relevant customer documents and references. The tool is easy to use and can be used live with the customer. We can give the customer access to review and comment on the processes (and the supporting information we are recording). This provides a controlled way of working.
Customers have their own preferred means of providing management systems information to their personnel from use of WORD documents and SharePoint, to bespoke software such as BusinessOptix. We have been able to use the output from BusinessOptix when creating materials for customers.
We have also used the transformation mapping feature in BusinessOptix as input to strategic planning and to communicate the plans to others.
Cons
The number of features in BusinessOptix has grown over the years we have licensed the software and one of the challenges we have is keeping up with all the developments and added features. While the basic use requires little training, using the tool to its maximum capabilities does need training and time / use to build the expertise. BusinessOptix do support this.

Excellent company to work with. Responsive and available - good sharing of insights and best practices with other BusinessOptix customers / users.
Pros
Easy to capture our corporate IP and use it to deliver our services to customers. Where our consulting changes the way a customer operates then it's invaluable tool to (1) draw out the new ways of working / process (together with additional context) and (2) share with customers for collaboration. The scenario modelling capability is incredibly powerful showing the benefits of new paths or process improvements.
Cons
The platform is incredibly flexible and configurable so sometimes it's hard to keep up to date with the ongoing improvements or know which piece of functionality is best suited to use for my needs.
