SuperAntiSpyware has become our go to option when there's strange behavior on a system and the traditional antivirus hasn't shown an issue. It's quick to download and install. Quick to update, with good fresh definitions and usually returns a full scan in a short period of time. Proton mail was created by Swiss scientists to protect their secrets. I do not think Proton mail is tracking me. Note: I use the free edition, but 97 items were found last night. I wnet 1 place, Proton mail. Sent 1 email. There are other programs that one can use to fight malware, but SuperAntiSpyware is free and very good. In 30 minutes you download the program and 80% of the malware is removed.
