Noodle helped to bring back life to an old outdated intranet site.

Used Daily for 1+ year

Pros

Noodle has a cloud based system that will allow you to access your website outside of your company's network. They have also integrated a Single Sign On (SSO) option for the cloud based users as wel. This makes it easier to login your intranet site if your company already is using a SSO software especially Windows Active Directory.

The interface allows you to easily build pages and has a drag and drop feature that most people are familiar with. It also has features that will allow you to easily setup a photo gallery, create a poll, make and merge calendars, and create interactive forms. Using Noodle allowed our company to retain existing functionality from our old intranet site while incorporating new ones.

Cons

It would be nice if Noodle would allow you to connect to an external database or use an API widget in order to use existing custom built applications/import data. There are some features that are incorporated in the site (while useful) that are not intuitive to the end users that cannot be disabled.

It is a pleasure recommend Noodle from Vialect. The product is incredibly easy to learn to use from a design perspective and practically intuitive for the standard user.
With help from the Noodle help center we have managed to build and extensive, interactive and informative intranet that is relied upon within our organisation of 500 staff.
Maintenance is easy as long as you have a good map in place for your content.
We have delegated responsibility for content to section contributors thereby avoiding the need for extra resource to maintain the intranet. Further, content is written and maintained by the subject matter experts.
At a fraction of the price of many other products but yet feature rich and with the best support I have ever experienced from a vendor, we highly recommend Noodle from Vialect.

Pros

Easy to use, low cost, high ROI, outstanding support, flexible, robust, secure and safe.

Cons

Less flexible in design to some of the high end product.

One of the Most Economical Intranet Options Available with Great Support

Reviewed on 2016/02/18

My client was seeking an Intranet portal for a network of over 65 different offices across North America and Noodle was by far the most economical and most flexible platform on the market. One of the greatest strengths of Noodle is the permission levels available per user/group. Intranet applications in general are still relatively behind in terms of their usability and design, but Noodle does a great job of simplifying the Intranet but still includes many valuable tools and applications.

In addition, the team at Noodle does an outstanding job of providing quick support and listening to opinions on future improvements.

If you're looking for an easy-to-use, cost-effective platform for your intranet, Noodle is one of the most economical and flexible platforms out there.

When Noodle works out of the box on mobile, i'll gladly give it a 5 star rating!

Pros

- Customer Support: The team at Noodle is quick to help out with support requests and issues
- Permissions: The ability to have multiple permission levels per user or per group.
- Searching/Filtering users : The People section on Noodle enables searching for users and custom fields.
- Notify and Memo Manager Features: Great way to mass email all users or specific groups right from the Intranet site.
- Portals: Portals have a lot of content features and styling options

Cons

- Lacks mobile responsiveness and isn't meant for mobile use quite yet
- Scroll windows can sometimes cause confusion when adding members to groups or permissions

Centralized our intraoffice communication - buildout required time investment

Used Daily for 1+ year

Pros

Secure and centralized our intraoffice communication. Because we use Noodle as the hub for policies, human resources, and training documents and videos, it took a lot of time and effort to get this running. The time invested wasn't due to the Noodle programming, but due to the large amount of information we needed to publish.

Logging in and updating is simple. The layout is user friendly and customizable.

Cons

Internal messaging is only delivered if the employee is looking at the Noodle program. There is no desktop function that sends the message or an indicator to look at messages received unless you are in Noodle.

Easy to Use with Intuitive Features

Reviewed on 2016/04/27
Review Source

Our organization has now evaluated many document management, corporate social networking, internal portal and content management systems. Keeping an eye out for ease of use and rich but simple feature set that met our requirements. Noodle was the perfect product for this and also at a price that easily fit into our budget. Additionally, their customer support, ability to adapt to our requirements and energetic attitude was very refreshing. We sent a short list of similar products to a test group of 15 users. The users unanimously voted Noodle as their preferred choice as a document management and internal social networking site.

Pros

Robust and Easy to Use Features
Easily Deployed and Managed
Modest System Requirements
Ability to Install on Multiple Platforms w/ multiple database software options
Does not require a high amount of user training
Intuitive User Interface
Easily Customized Look and Feel
Easy to apply our company branding

Cons

There is no out of the box MS Office Integration. However, after speaking with sales and their technical teams we were able to determine a solution that would be included in a future release for integration with MS Office 2013.

Does not appear to support NTLM so users are required to login, this makes it difficult to make company announcements that would appear on the users web browsers home page (forcing the user to login to see them).

GetApp Analysis

Growing companies don’t have time to use dozens of separate apps and platforms for common workday tasks. With a social intranet platform like Noodle, however, it’s possible for employees to share ideas, post documents, merge schedules, and upload photos all from within a single, unified site. Noodle is a web-based solution intended to enhance communication, encourage innovation, and increase corporate wisdom.

With multiple levels of adoption, companies can choose which features are right for them. Noodle fits somewhere between open source intranets and higher-cost solutions like Microsoft SharePoint, with partial flexibility and no work investment.

Key Noodle features include system-wide apps, real-time activity streams, customizable portals, instant messaging, and integrated employee profiles. Companies get access to 15 system applications from the get-go, providing employees with the ability to share, collaborate, and complete tasks inside Noodle from the moment they start using the web-based solution.

Noodle Social Intranet

What is Noodle?

For organizations that currently share information through a combination of email, file servers, and static webpages, Noodle is a welcome alternative. The web-based intranet replaces outdated technologies and connects employees through a built-in corporate social network. Using a combination of profile pages, activity and status feeds, and instant messaging, employees are able to quickly share information. Noodle also increases employee engagement by making knowledge and work more transparent.

Every page within a company’s intranet includes a search engine, which helps Noodle users find what they’re looking for in a flash. Wiki-based page editing makes it easy for employees to update company pages, blogs, and forums. At the same time, strong permission controls limit the information that certain employees have access to, preventing contractors or freelancers from reading, posting, or modifying selected types of content.

The app is available locally or in the cloud. Cloud-hosted Noodles are hosted in Rackspace, which is a leader in IT security. When companies choose local hosting, they have the option to sync Noodle with Active Directory, as well.

Noodle Main Features

Employee Profiles

Employee profile pages offer a glimpse into what individuals within a company have been working on and what they have on the horizon in the coming days and weeks. Employees can review their colleagues’ profiles to see the history of the content they’ve created, along with more personal information, which is accessible through status updates and personal photos.

Customize your profile page to reflect your personal aesthetic and professional reputation. You can select your own profile picture, add links to your social media accounts, and include a brief biography. Profile pages serve as a great place to keep to-do lists and post family photos, as well. Your page should give colleagues a good idea about who you are both inside and outside of the office. Noodle also gives you the option to download a shortcut that stores your password for faster access.

Employee Profiles

Activity Feeds

Activity feeds promote engagement from within Noodle. Users are able to see personalized views of their feeds—singling out the work of specific colleagues or reviewing certain types of content first—with the ability to filter content and have the newest updates routed directly to their email inboxes.

Keep your activity feed updated by sharing real-time information with status updates. Your colleagues will see your status update and then scroll down to “like” or comment on the items in their feeds. Examples of typical items in a feed might include meeting updates and links to documents that have been newly created or edited. New content will display under the “What’s New” icon.

What's New

Instant Messenger

Noodle has developed a smarter, faster way for employees to communicate. The social intranet’s built-in instant messenger application provides a way for employees to chat and collaborate on all types of projects. It notifies users when they have new messages through a blinking light on the web browser.

In addition to chatting with colleagues through Noodle’s instant messenger, you can also share photos and videos. Built-in video conferencing makes it possible to launch video conferences with multiple colleagues. You can shortlist the contacts you communicate with most frequently, as well. The app keeps an archive of all chat logs for future reference.

Instant Messenger

Document Sharing

The ability to securely share documents is a key component to any intranet. Noodle has focused on providing its users with a seamless way to share and collaborate on documents. Not only do users have the ability to create an unlimited number of folders for any type of file or document, but they can also utilize advanced tools that require colleagues to “check-in” or “check-out” documents online.

You can set up a workflow to manage your documents. The workflow you create will automatically move, archive, or delete certain documents based on the timeline you selected. Documents can be shared individually or in bulk, with the ability to track which users have viewed each document and which, if any, have made modifications or edits.
