Athena Overview

Athena is a web-based insurance software bring together the latest technology innovations and specific business needs of insurance agents and brokers. Athena comes in two different flavors, one is life insurance software and the other is general insurance software. Though two different products, the common architecture is used making it very easy to integrate this as one product for organization users.


Policy LifeCyle Management - Life Insurance & General Insurance
Policy lifecyle is seperate in life insurance policies and varies in different types of general insurance policy. The lifecycle management tool is automated for life insurance using the feeds from the various insurance companies and for general insurance it has a quotation, proposal and lead management workflow.
Intelligent Quotation Management System
The QMS in Athena is designed keeping in mind the practical challenges faced by insurance broker. Athena comes with a dynamic Quote Management that is customized as per the type of policies with options to electronically capture quote.
Sales Force Automation
Athena acts as a CRM that covers the basic sales force automation allowing users to track prospect customers, view existing customer portfolio and renewal alert features for repeat business. The extensive reporting tools offer in-depth analytics features.
Commission and Financial Management
Especially in Life Insurance, the broker Commission structure is well-defined for products by the insurance companies. Athena allows the broker to upload the broker commission structure mapping upfront and let the system do the entire financial management in terms of receivables. The commission check utility allows the brokers to view and compare the receivables against the actual receipts and highlight the differences in easy to interpret formats. The system also allows the brokers to input the commission payable to sub-brokers and agents along with the incentives payable to employees. This ensures that the entire financial management in terms of commission payments and receipts are combined in a ledger format to understand the profitability for a policy, a broker, branch, product line, timespan or any other indicator.

Athena offers several options to migrate the policy or commission data in an excel format.
Renewal Management
Considered as an important source of business for the brokers, Athena treats Renewal Management in a unique way. From renewal alerts to brokers and clients via SMS or Email to booking renewal appointment, the system captures every facet of policy renewal process. The renewal commission, forecasts and renewal reports are additional tools given to broker to track renewal business effectively.
Claim Management
The claim module is complete workflow driven with options to configure your own claim stages. The clients can file for claims online with alerts sent to the brokers, ability to upload the documentation and share the same with insurance company. Clients can view the claim status online and the system sends the SMS or email alerts as soon as the claim stages are updated in the system.
Dynamic Reporting Tool
The dynamic reporting tool is an analytics engine that allows brokers to export, view or analyze Policy data in their own formats.
MIS Reporting Tool
Similar to the Dynamic Reporting tool, the MIS reporting tool offers business summaries in the user defined formats.
Athena Reporting Tools
In addition to the analytics reports, Athena offers a wide range of predefined reports commonly used by brokers.
Commission Reporting Tools
Similar to the other reporting tools, the commission reporting tool allows brokers to view and analyze commission data in a variety of formats
Renewal Reporting Tools
Like Commission reporting tools, the renewal reporting tools allows brokers to analyze the renewal information.

Pros

I find Athena to be a comprehensive software, staying abreast of the constant changes in Healthcare and is easy to customize. I can build rules to stop a claim from going through that are pertinent to my line of business. This helps to reduce time and costs associated with getting denials overturned.

Cons

One thing I wish Athena was a bit better at was letting the user go back vs having to make clicks to go back. Sometimes, it takes longer to look up a lab value and then go back and put that into the claim information.

Good EHR with some minor functionality issues that I am told will be addressed.

Pros

Has great features for communicating with other staff and providers. Recently started using the chat feature and it is very helpful!

Cons

I don't like that you can't have the schedule visible while in a patient chart, makes it hard to be on top of patient arrivals while you are charting.

Keeps all work items organized and easy to schedule and issue lists to trades. Makes deficiency items simple for workers to locate with accurate photos and descriptions. Saves a lot of time explaining and walking though work to be done. Keeps track of dates and makes the PDI and QC lists quickly available to trades. Much better than trying to keep track with cumbersome paper lists.

Scheduling through the software is difficult to operate
